They are knows as lobster tail pastry and used to be served only for the aristocratic Renaissance set in Italy. Cannoli Siciliani image

Cannoli Siciliani

Cannoli is a Sicilian pastry consisting of a tube-shaped shell of fried pastry dough, filled with a sweet, creamy filling containing ricotta cheese. It ranges in size from 9 to 20 centimetres. In mainland Italy, it is commonly known as cannolo siciliano.

Filling can be made with ricotta cheese and drops of chocolate, pistacchio or candied fruits. The inner side can also be coated with chocolate.
